History

Earthworks, Inc. opened for business in August 1995 at Ozora, Missouri (about 70 miles south of St. Louis). We started with one sales rep and one tractor trailer. In October 2001, we had outgrown the twenty-two acre facility in Ozora and moved a little further south to the present location in Perryville, Missouri.

We currently have 60-70 employees between the yard and quarry, a fleet of thirteen trucks and seven sales representatives serving the territories of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, Mississippi, Iowa and California. In addition to all the landscape products we carry, we also supply a large amount of boulders and ledgerock for major projects and water features. Earthworks is a family business, owned by father and son, Kevin and Aaron Thieret.

The Earthworks Quarry site was opened in 1997 with the operation of chopping stone only. Two years later, the first saws were put in and an additional stone splitter was added. As the demand for building stone and specialty cut stone increased, so was the need to make some changes. We started a major quarry expansion in April 2003 with completion planned for May 2004. We are putting in a state-of-the-art fabrication shop that will be a leader in the area. We are also adding a second shift to help keep up with the orders.

In 2001, Earthworks purchased Sanco Stoneworks, formerly known as Sanco Building Products, located in Chesterfield, Missouri. Sanco carries an extensive line of building stone and accessories. In 2003, the existing location was converted to a landscape supply yard. A new location was opened across the street with a brand new showroom and bigger yard. The new showroom is an awesome display of the various stones and designs available to the homeowner and contractor.

Effective January 1, 2006, we changed the name Sanco Stoneworks to Earthworks, Inc. and combined the masonry and landscape yards into the one location at Baxter Road.
